Academy Schools is partnering with Northwest Harvest to host an Empty Bowl fundraiser on Thursday, January 19th from 6 pm to 8 pm!
The Academy Schools community has been busy throwing bowls with our own master potter, Bruce McIntyre (who is our college and career counselor, and community service coordinator as his day job!). Parents, staff and students helped with glazing. And friends in the neighborhood have shared kiln time with the school. Everyone is welcome! And, this is the first event that Northwest Harvest has held in their Kent warehouse, so Board members and volunteers alike will be there.
There are other milestones to herald… Northwest Harvest is celebrating 50 years of fighting hunger in Washington state. Empty Bowls has been helping to feed people since 1990, and Academy Schools is marking 20 years of providing differentiated and individualized instruction to students who learn differently. All this makes our Empty Bowl event on January 19th even more special.
