Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce’s 30^th Anniversary Celebration
On Saturday, November 10, 2018, 120 friends and supporters of the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce gathered to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the organization at the Seattle Airport Marriott in SeaTac.
 
The Chamber was delighted to recognize the long-time members of the organization for their dedication and commitment to the Chamber as well as the early adopters of the Success Foundation. They are pleased to announce that they raised over $13,000 for the Success Foundation.
 
The Seattle Southside Chamber would like to extend their gratitude to their membership, event sponsors, Success Foundation donors, the many businesses and individuals who generously provided auction items, and the entire Seattle Southside Community for their support the last 30 years.
 
“The Chamber is proud to launch and support the work of the Success Foundation,” Said Andrea Reay, President/CEO of the Seattle Southside Chamber, “Our Business community knows and understands how vital workforce development is not only to lift our communities out of poverty, but to remain competitive and profitable in our dynamic and global economy.”
 
Together with the Foundation’s newest program, the Workforce Innovation Network (W.I.N.), and Scouts BSA, an Explorer Post will be launched in the summer of 2019.
 
“According to the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, most of our minority youth are failing in math and language skills by 5^th grade, Exploring could help keep more of our youth engaged, giving them reasons to study,” said Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Director of Development for the Success Foundation, “We believe that our Chamber-led Explorers Post will create a fun and inspiring pathway for our region’s future employees and employers while positively impact youth development.”
 
Explorer Posts serve older youth through hands-on and interactive character building and career exploration activities which are facilitated by trained local business leaders. This summer’s Explorer Post will introduce local youth to a world of work outside their immediate frame of reference and experience.
