• Diversity and Inclusion

Many business leaders wonder what they can do to make their companies more diverse.

What is the definition of diversity vs. inclusion?

Diversity and inclusion often come together, but should not be mistaken as the same things. The difference between diversity and inclusion is that diversity is the end and inclusion is the means. Diversity means having a variety of people made up of many different races, ethnicities, genders, ages, sexual orientations, marital statuses, religions, physical and mental abilities, and more, while inclusion means having an open company culture that invites diverse people. There are a wide variety of techniques different companies employ for being inclusive, but they all revolve around being welcoming to all members of the team and taking them all seriously.

There are many resources out there for helping companies be more inclusive, including women’s empowerment programs, like exchange programs offered by the US Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at https://eca.state.gov/programs-initiatives/womens-empowerment
