DESCRIPTION:The Burien Creative District Planning Committee\, under the Southside Seattle Chamber of Commerce\, has been working on an initiative to establish a Creative District in Burien. The Committee is gathering information and ideas and is reaching out to gather wider participation. The Committee recognizes the challenges faced by the community in this time\, but looking forward to a recovery period and a new normal\, a Creative District could be a tool to jumpstart the creative economy in Burien.\n\n\n\nAn online community Zoom meeting has been scheduled to provide more detail on what a Creative District is\, and let people know how they can get involved. The meeting will feature a presentation by Annette Roth\, the director of ArtsWA Certified Creative District Program. She will answer questions about Creative Districts and the process of planning one. She will also illustrate why a Creative District is a good idea at this time. The Committee is not asking for a commitment of time or effort beyond the meeting itself. Anyone with an interest in learning more about bringing this exciting change to Burien is invited to attend.
